<div id=":31f">TO BE THE BEST AT SOMETHING,<br />
YOU HAVE TO LEARN FROM THE BEST<br />
&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-</p>
<p>When I was struggling to sell stuff early in my MLM<br />
career, I stopped taking sales advice from my company<br />
and started getting it from real experts. The advertising<br />
pioneers&#8230;  the persuasion professionals&#8230; people who<br />
HAD to know what they were doing because their job was<br />
to sell thousands of products BY THEMSELVES &#8211; using<br />
nothing more than words on paper.</p>
<p>I think you&#8217;d agree with me, I&#8217;d have to be crazy NOT to copy</p>
</div>
<div>their wildly successful and proven advertising secrets</div>
<div>(&#8230; strategies that had already made them millions in other</div>
<div>
<p>industries) and use them in the MLM industry – with my own business!</p>
<p>The following was hands down one of the most important<br />
things I&#8217;ve ever learned from these marketing legends and<br />
is something I&#8217;m constantly asking myself:</p>
<p>&#8220;What do my prospects really want?&#8221;</p>
<p>Let me give you an example.</p>
<p>Women don&#8217;t want cosmetics&#8230; we really want to improve<br />
our appearance, become more attractive, and maybe<br />
(hypothetically speaking here) hide a few wrinkles and<br />
imperfections while we&#8217;re at it!</p>
<p>Plus, it is always nice to get compliments from others -<br />
especially that special someone &#8211; on how beautiful you<br />
look.</p>
<p>Charles Revson, the make-up mogul who created and<br />
managed Revlon for over 50 years, clearly understood<br />
what his prospects really wanted. He was once quoted<br />
saying: &#8220;In the factory we make lipstick, in our<br />
advertising we sell hope.&#8221;</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s look at another one.</p>
<p>Elderly folks don&#8217;t want just another bottle of<br />
arthritis pills&#8230; they really want relief from<br />
the uncomfortable pain they&#8217;re always in.</p>
<p>And more than that, they really want to<br />
live their lives independently &#8211; without<br />
relying on someone else&#8217;s help&#8230; to be able<br />
to freely move about in the garden&#8230; to be<br />
capable of keeping up with their grandkids&#8230;<br />
to finally get a refreshing nights sleep!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s one more &#8211; it&#8217;s one of my favorites!</p>
<p>Back in the 1800&#8242;s, Daniel Webster an<br />
American statesman, was asked by a friend<br />
to auction off his farm.</p>
<p>&#8220;Neighbors,&#8221; he said, &#8220;we&#8217;re not auctioning<br />
Tom Brown&#8217;s 34 good milk cows&#8230; or 80 acres<br />
of fine land&#8230; or a sturdy home that&#8217;s seen<br />
20 winters&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8220;No,&#8221; continued Daniel, &#8220;I&#8217;m offering you<br />
the chance of biting into a red apple with the<br />
juicy sap running over your lips&#8230; the smell<br />
of new mown hay&#8230; clear mountain steam water<br />
on your table&#8230; the crunch of snow under your<br />
feet&#8230; and the best neighbors in the world&#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>After he was finished, bids from the townsfolk<br />
came pouring in &#8211; because Mr. Webster knew<br />
what his prospects really wanted!</p>
<p>So please, take some time (maybe even a couple<br />
of hours) and really ask yourself:</p>
<p>&#8220;What Do My Prospects Really Want?&#8221;</p>
<p>Be sure to scribble down everything you come up with.<br />
Don&#8217;t stop until you&#8217;ve got at least a couple of pages<br />
of answers.</p>
<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<br />
ARE YOU SURE THAT&#8217;S ALL<br />
YOU CAN THINK OF?<br />
&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re having trouble coming up with ideas and<br />
find yourself staring at a blank piece of paper,<br />
here are a few suggestions from master copywriter<br />
and advertising great, Victor Schwab.</p>
<p>Your prospects want to GAIN:<br />
Self-confidence&#8230;  Fame&#8230; Compliments<br />
from others&#8230; Sense of accomplishment&#8230;<br />
Improved appearance&#8230; Comfort&#8230;<br />
(the list goes on)</p>
<p>Your prospects want to BE:<br />
Recognized by others&#8230; Friendly and outgoing&#8230;<br />
Stylish and fashionable&#8230; Proud of what they own&#8230;<br />
&#8220;First&#8221; in things&#8230; Influential over others&#8230;<br />
(the list goes on)</p>
<p>Your prospects want to DO:<br />
Uniquely express themselves&#8230; Resist being<br />
controlled by others&#8230; Emulate the admirable&#8230;<br />
Acquire things&#8230; Win the affection of others&#8230;<br />
Improve themselves generally&#8230; (the list goes on)</p>
<p>Your prospects want to SAVE:<br />
Time&#8230; Money&#8230; Work&#8230; Discomfort&#8230; Worry&#8230;<br />
Doubts&#8230; Risk&#8230; Personal Embarrassment&#8230;</p>
<p>If you can combine the benefits<br />
of what you&#8217;re selling with what your prospects<br />
really want, then your products will grow wings<br />
and fly off the shelves &#8211; literally!</p>
<p>I sincerely hope this lesson turns out to be as<br />

<p>I’m actually building a <a title="network marketing business" href="http://my-body-by-vi.com/visalus-sciences-opportunity/80-of-visalus-top-earners-had-no-prior-network-marketing-experience/" target="_blank">Network Marketing Business</a>.</p>
<p>That’s right. I’m not just a wanna be guru trainer type who calls herself an expert in teaching ‘<a title="attraction marketing" href="http://mlm-list-building.com/newsletter-issue/rospect-the-old-schoolnew-school-argument-is-false/" target="_blank">attraction marketing</a>’ who spends her day on <a title="twitter" href="http://twitter.com/melmilletics" target="_blank">Twitter</a> and <a href="http://facebook.com/melaniemilletics" target="_blank">Facebook</a> chattering away… talking up a storm about what Im an expert in.</p>
<p>Whoa – I haven’t even produced a good quirky <a href="http://youtube.com/user/melaniemilletics" target="_blank">video</a> in awhile to tell you how super cool I am.</p>
<p>Intead, I’m actually building a Network Marketing business.</p>
<p>And its not a ‘shovels’ business either…  <em>know what Im sayin</em>? Shovels are smart- and I sell those too- but I’m working with a company that has products that have real value in the marketplace beyond the ‘home based business buyers’ market.</p>
<p>I’m (<em>gasp</em>) on the phone with prospects who have contacted me about my business. I’m qualifying them and helping those who I’d like to work with to make the decision to start their business with our rock-solid , yet incredibly <a title="progressive company" href="http://my-body-by-vi.com/visalus-sciences-news/visalus-vi-net-integrates-directly-with-social-media-for-relationship-marketing/" target="_blank">progressive company</a>.  I’m then doing Success Training for those folks – making sure they have the Foundation of the <a href="http://my-body-by-vi.com/visalus-sciences-opportunity/80-of-visalus-top-earners-had-no-prior-network-marketing-experience/" target="_blank">ViSalus Academy</a>.  That training has a permanent place on my desktop. I’m thrilled to say that I help a new entrepreneur work their way through that training every day – sometimes more than one new entrepreneur a day.</p>
<p>I’m seeing the results of my work – watching the<a href="http://mlm-list-building.com/newsletter-issue/what-does-it-really-take-to-be-a-successful-entrepreneur-in-the-network-marketing-industry/" target="_blank"> leaders</a> emerge. Learning to recognize who the 30%ers, 60%ers and 100%ers are – and spending time with them accordingly.  I’m watching duplication happen, and finally leverage.  True residuals building.  Its quite awesome.</p>
<p>Sure, I still have a nice income from my <a href="http://mlm-list-building.com/newsletter-issue/melanie-milletics-ranks-1st-in-us-affiliate-for-leads-generated-and-in-the-top-3-for-sales-of-renegade-professional/" target="_blank">automated affiliate income</a> – the links I’ve weaved into my content over the years serve me well.  But I am very much aware that that is seed money – it isn’t the big picture. I don’t get paid residually on those sales… there are no leaders to develop that can produce millions.  I know where to FOCUS.</p>
<p>My psychological input – my energy – is not on the front end sale. Its shifted. I know the residual income dream is alive and well and I am grabbing ahold of that business model with both hands.</p>
<p>So forgive me if my online presence has a DIY appearance.  You can’t judge a book by its cover- you know what I mean?<br />
If you want to align yourself with a ‘leader ‘who just met <a href="http://mlm-list-building.com/newsletter-issue/i-usually-try-to-steer-you-away-from-thinking-there-is-anything-remotely-like-magic-pixie-dust-for-your-business-success/" target="_blank">Mike Dillard</a> or <a href="http://mlm-list-building.com/newsletter-issue/ann-sieg-interviews-melanie-milletics-about-mike-klingers-renegade-university/" target="_blank">Ann Sieg</a> a year or two ago and has themselves a nice shiny look – who has learned to say all the right things.  In other words – is a ‘wanna be’. Then go right ahead. I cant stop you.</p>
<p>Or… you can have actual faith that what I tell you is true.<br />
I’ve been at this game since 2001.<br />
I’m no wanna be. Don’t let my DIY appearance fool ya.</p>

looking for, it&#8217;s actually quite rare that someone will<br />
buy from you or sign up for your opportunity the<br />
very first time you make contact with them.</p>
<p>This is just something you have to factor into the<br />
equation when you&#8217;re hammering out your<br />
overall sales process.</p>
<p>Perhaps you&#8217;ve heard this popular mlm phrase<br />
before&#8230;</p>
<p>&#8220;<a title="some will, some wont, who cares, whos next" href="http://mlm-list-building.com/personal-development/the-law-of-sowing-and-reaping-as-applied-to-network-marketing-by-jim-rohn/" target="_blank">Some will, some won&#8217;t, who cares, who&#8217;s next</a>?&#8221;</p>
<p>My upline in one of my former companies used to<br />
embed this saying into our heads every chance they<br />
got. The idea being that if someone isn&#8217;t interested,<br />
you&#8217;re supposed to just forget about them and<br />
move on to the next person.</p>
<p>Aside from the fact that we weren&#8217;t talking to the<br />
right people in the first place, this has to be some of<br />
the <em>most damaging marketing advice</em> I&#8217;ve ever fallen<br />
victim to.</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t have a systemized follow up procedure<br />
in place for every single one of your prospects,<br />
you&#8217;re leaving untold amounts of money on the<br />
table.</p>
<p>A good <a title="autoresponder review" href="http://mlm-list-building.com/list-building-product-review/which-autoresponder-is-best-an-autoresponder-review/" target="_blank">autoresponder</a> follow up sequence can EASILY quadruple<br />
your sales because rather than just being able to sell<br />
to the same person once, you can sell to them 5<br />
times&#8230; 10 times&#8230; even 100 times.</p>
<p>The fortune truly is in the follow up.</p>
<p>Now here&#8217;s another popular saying you may have<br />
heard:</p>
<p>&#8220;A prospect has to see your message at least 7 times<br />
before they actually buy.&#8221;</p>
<p>While it certainly is true that your prospects need<br />
repeated exposures to your offer before they will<br />
decide to take action on it&#8230;</p>
<p>Merely SEEING your message isn&#8217;t enough.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, this &#8220;7 times rule of thumb&#8221; only<br />
paints half the picture. Many people implement it<br />
the wrong way.</p>
<p>See, when you follow up with someone, you cannot<br />
continue to hit them up with a sales pitch every<br />
time.</p>
<p>If a plain old sales pitch was enough, they would<br />
have bought the first time. Seeing or hearing it 7<br />
more times isn&#8217;t going to do the trick.</p>
<p>The reason they didn&#8217;t buy the first time around is<br />
because they weren&#8217;t convinced that you&#8217;ll really be<br />
able to deliver what your sales pitch promises.</p>
<p>You have to prove it to them.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.sponsoringsuccess.net" target="_blank"><strong>The way this is done is by educating them and<br />
showing them you know what you&#8217;re talking about<br />
BEFORE they ever do business with you.</strong></a></p>
<p>The purpose of the autoresponder follow up is to build trust and<br />
credibility because these are some of the biggest<br />
obstacles that hold anyone back from making a<br />
purchase.</p>
<p>Every time you contact someone, each message<br />
should sell them on the idea that their time and<br />
money will be well spent with you not because<br />
you asked for it, but because you gave them<br />
valuable information for free.</p>
<p>This information has to be genuinely useful to them<br />
regardless of whether or not they ever buy from you.</p>
<p>This is the only way autoresponder follow up becomes effective<br />
and how you get your message in front of people,<br />
because prospects don&#8217;t pay attention to pitches,<br />
they pay attention to value.</p>
<p>When your messages become educational rather<br />
than confrontational, all resistance melts. The<br />
natural defenses that every person has against being<br />
sold disappear.</p>
<p>So the next time you communicate with someone,<br />
just picture their busy schedule with ten million<br />
things on their to do list. Ask yourself if what you&#8217;re<br />
trying to say is something they could easily dismiss<br />
and relinquish to the junk folder&#8230; or&#8230; if it&#8217;s<br />
something they won&#8217;t be able to ignore because it<br />
would immediately improve their lives in some way<br />
the moment they read it.</p>

<p>You know that feeling when you&#8217;re out having coffee with a friend&#8230; or you bump into someone you know at the grocery store&#8230; and you think to yourself, &#8220;I really need to talk to this person about my opportunity. I haven&#8217;t done anything yet to build my business today?&#8221;</p>
<p>And then, afterwards, when you fail to share your opportunity with them, you feel really guilty about it because you know you&#8217;re not any closer to your dreams of residual income?</p>
<p>How would you like to never have that feeling again?</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s face it.</p>
<p>We all hate talking to people who aren&#8217;t interested in our opportunity, and none of us would do it if we knew there was a better option available.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s about as enjoyable as chewing on broken glass and somehow, at a gut level it just doesn&#8217;t feel right.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>So Why Do We Force Ourselves To Do It?</strong></p>
<p>Well, a lot of us have been given the impression that it&#8217;s simply the only way to do this business.</p>
<p>Many of us have been told that the very core of network marketing, the very reason it&#8217;s so powerful, are the one-to-one relationships that allow us to immediately connect with our prospects and have our message heard above everyone else&#8217;s.</p>
<p>Remove the &#8220;one-on-one&#8221; aspect and you no longer have network marketing.</p>
<p>There are three main reasons we&#8217;re repeatedly ingrained with the idea that this form of direct selling is superior to all others:</p>
<ul>
<li> *t&#8217;s more effective than other forms of advertising.</li>
<li> It&#8217;s the only way &#8220;the little guy&#8221; can compete with the big companies and build a business today.</li>
<li> It&#8217;s duplicateable.</li>
</ul>
<p>But is all this really true?</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at each one of these arguments.</p>
<p><strong>#1. &#8220;Direct selling is more effective than other forms of advertising.&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>The average person today is busier than ever before and the amount of things competing for our attention is at an all time high.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re constantly bombarded with as many as 1,600 to 3,000 different ads or marketing messages every single day.</p>
<p>Because of this, we&#8217;re told that the only way to cut through all the noise and get people&#8217;s attention is through personal, pre-existing relationships.</p>
<p>An individual is actually able to get much better market penetration with their &#8220;circle of influence&#8221; than a big company with a huge advertising budget because &#8220;people buy from those they know, like and trust.&#8221;</p>
<p>Right?</p>
<p>Now, at face value, this seems to make really good sense.</p>
<p>But if you&#8217;ve made even the smallest attempt at expanding your business through your warm market, you know that something&#8217;s not quite right with this picture.</p>
<p>Were you greeted with open arms by every friend, family member, coworker, referral and<br />
acquaintance you&#8217;ve ever tried to prospect?</p>
<p>Did they happily whip out their checkbook and immediately buy from you because they know you or because you&#8217;re a friend of a friend?</p>
<p>Probably not.</p>
<p>In fact, you&#8217;re probably more familiar with the experience of being avoided or shunned by people the moment they found out what your real motives for talking with them were.</p>
<p>So much for &#8220;cutting through all the noise&#8221; right?</p>
<p>So why doesn&#8217;t it all play out perfectly the way it should? Why the big disconnect between theory and reality?</p>
<p>It&#8217;s because&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Direct Selling, Regardless Of Whether<br />
Or Not You Already Know Someone, Is<br />
Still A Form Of Interruption Marketing</strong></p>
<p>You&#8217;re still intruding on people&#8217;s lives with the one thing people hate almost more than anything else: An unwanted sales pitch.</p>
<p>Sure, you&#8217;ll be able to get your foot in the door because they know who you are&#8230; but it doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;re their best friend or a total stranger, once you hit them up with a sales pitch, all of that goes out the window!</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve just placed yourself in the same category as all the other solicitors they ignore! It completely voids the fact that you have any kind of relationship with them.</p>
<p>Any trust between the two of you has been damaged because people don&#8217;t like being taken advantage of. And that&#8217;s how they feel when you assume that they&#8217;ll automatically give you their money just by virtue of the fact that you know them.</p>
<p>Especially if you&#8217;ve used some sneaky, bait-and-switch &#8220;I just want you to evaluate what I&#8217;m doing&#8221; or &#8220;I can&#8217;t explain it, you&#8217;ve just gotta come and see it for yourself&#8221; tactic that many uplines teach and employ.</p>
<p>(Deep down inside we all know this instinctively because that&#8217;s not how we would want to be treated. That&#8217;s why it just doesn&#8217;t feel right when we push our stuff on people.)</p>
<p>More importantly&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Any Pre-Existing Relationship You Have With<br />
Anyone Is Completely Meaningless If They<br />
Don&#8217;t Already Want What You&#8217;re Selling</strong></p>
<p>This is the most important and fundamental rule of marketing and it&#8217;s prerequisite to everything else.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re not abiding by this rule, NO form of advertising is going to work.</p>
<p>In fact, person-to-person is actually the worst form of advertising for practicing this sort of &#8220;interruption marketing&#8221; because with something like television or a magazine ad, your prospect can simply change channels or turn the page if they&#8217;re not interested. No big deal.</p>
<p>But nothing is more uncomfortable than having to turn someone down who won&#8217;t take &#8220;no&#8221; for an answer. Especially when you&#8217;re trying to be careful and polite about it because that someone is your friend.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s also a lot harder and more wearing on you because you personally have to deal with the rejection over and over again (another thing that we humans don&#8217;t do well with), as opposed to an ad that couldn&#8217;t care less.</p>
<p>While the whole point of direct selling is supposed to be to allow you to breakthrough all the other advertising clutter, there&#8217;s actually a much better and more natural way to accomplish this.</p>
<p>Effectively getting someone to listen to you has nothing to do with communicating at a one-to-one level.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s all about whether or not you&#8217;re tapping into a need or desire that already exists.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re not offering them something that they&#8217;re already highly interested in, you&#8217;re not going to be able to hold their attention and you&#8217;re certainly not going to get them to take action.</p>
<p>The REAL KEY to getting and keeping your prospect&#8217;s undivided attention is to deliver laser-targeted messages to them at the exact moment that they&#8217;re looking for answers.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Good Marketing Is About Delivering The Right<br />
Message, To The Right Person, At The Right Time.</strong></p>
<p>This is how you stand out from the crowd and the internet allows you to do this like no other advertising medium in history because what are people doing when they go on the internet?</p>
<p>Searching for information!</p>
<p>This is the exact state of mind you need someone to be in in order for them to be receptive to your offer &#8211; not when they&#8217;re having dinner or out grocery shopping.</p>
<p>The very nature of the internet is that people go on it to look for answers. It&#8217;s like a giant virtual yellow pages, except infinitely better and more powerful (in ways that I&#8217;ll talk about more in future emails).</p>
<p>It&#8217;s THE perfect pool of prospects &#8211; warmer and more receptive than any &#8220;warm&#8221; market.</p>
<p>Which brings us to the next point&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>#2. &#8220;One-to-one marketing is the only way &#8220;the little guy&#8221; can compete with the big companies and build a business today.&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>We would all love to advertise and have business come to us if we could right?</p>
<p>However, we&#8217;re told that the average person just can&#8217;t afford to do normal advertising like &#8220;the big boys&#8221; can and one-to-one, word of mouth marketing is really the only option available to us small home based business owners who don&#8217;t have a lot of money to start with.</p>
<p>Now, 20 years ago when everything was offline this *MIGHT* have been true&#8230;</p>
<p>But today with the internet, this argument is simply outdated and no longer valid.</p>
<p>Reaching mass audiences of hundreds of thousands of people with an advertising campaign in the offline world can cost as much as a small house.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>With The Internet, These Same Numbers And Results<br />
Can Be Achieved For Nothing Or Next To Nothing</strong></p>
<p>Let me give you some examples&#8230;</p>
<ul>
<li>To take out a full page ad in The Washington Post, which has over 2.4 million readers, you will need to fork over a hefty $100,000.<br />
On the other hand, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which has a circulation of about 370,000 readers, will only cost you $15,000.</p>
<p>* A typical full page ad in most magazines will cost you anywhere from $20-40 CPM. This means &#8216;Cost Per Thousand&#8217; &#8211; the cost per thousand viewers or readers. So if you want your ad to be seen by roughly 100,000 people, it may cost anywhere from<br />
$2-4,000.</li>
<li> * Depending on the type of postage you use and a few other things like printing, paper, mailing list rental and lettershopping, having your offer sent to 100,000 people through direct mail can be in the neighborhood of $50,000 or more.<br />
* With production costs and air time, a 28 minute infomercial can easily run you up a good $200,000.</li>

<strong>Cost:</strong> Free if done manually, or for less than $200 you can have a good professional service do it for you for an entire year.</p>
<p><strong>Reach:</strong> Hundreds of websites with thousands of regular visitors pick up your articles and distribute them.</p>

<strong>Cost:</strong> $1-5 per thousand impressions, depending on the websites you advertise with (an impression is when your ad is shown) So to have your ad shown 100,000 times would cost between $100-500.</p>
<p><strong>Natural search engine listings</strong> (Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc)<br />
<strong>Cost:</strong> Time.</p>
<p><strong>Reach:</strong> Thousands to millions depending on the search terms you&#8217;re targeting.</p>
<p><strong>Ezine Advertising</strong><br />
An &#8220;ezine&#8221; is an online newsletter and when you advertise with one, your offer gets emailed to the entire list of subscribers. This is one of the most effective methods for targeting huge crowds of people who are interested in your offer. There are<br />
hundreds of home based business/network marketing ezines you can advertise with, but here are just a few examples that I found in about 10 minutes of looking through an ezine directory:<br />
-$150 to have your ad sent to 470,000 subscribers<br />
-$135 to have your ad sent to 280,000 subscribers<br />
-$99 to have your ad sent to 100,000 subscribers<br />
-$50 to have your ad sent to 37,000 subscribers<br />
-$35 to have your ad sent to 20,000 subscribers</p>
<p>With the internet, anyone can advertise like the big companies, and in fact, in many cases, the &#8220;little guy&#8221; can do it a lot better.</p>
<p>Most Fortune 500 companies are just now starting to get up to speed on strategies and techniques that were being talked about and used with tremendous success 5-10 years ago by pioneering individuals and small home based business owners.</p>
<p>This may sound surprising, but did you know that during the 21st Century, 90% of the most significant breakthroughs and discoveries in science and business came from small businesses?</p>
<p>Why?</p>
<p>Because it&#8217;s very difficult for large, slow-moving, bureaucratic corporations to adapt and change.</p>
<p>The Fortune 500s and the Inc 500s &#8211; just like the vast majority of MLM companies &#8211; failed to adapt to the internet and are now playing catch up. (Actually, they failed to allow their<br />
DISTRIBUTORS to adapt to the internet).</p>
<p>Is it really any surprise that the warm/cold market approach has become outdated?</p>
<p>After all, network marketing was first conceived of well over 50 years ago.</p>
<p>Things change. Techniques change. That&#8217;s okay.</p>
<p>This does NOT mean that MLM itself is outdated, just the methods that people are being taught to use. It&#8217;s more powerful now than ever, when combined with effective marketing strategies.</p>
<p>One more thing about this idea that home based business owners can&#8217;t advertise like the big companies can&#8230;</p>
<p>Notice how I said that &#8220;20 years ago when everything was offline this *MIGHT* have been<br />
true&#8230;?&#8221;</p>
<p>Well, the reason I say &#8220;might&#8221; is because if you advertise like MOST distributors do, this statement is true.</p>
<p>You WILL lose money. Every time.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>When Done Wrong, Any Kind Of Marketing<br />
Is Expensive &#8211; Even Warm Market Prospecting<br />
Which Is Supposed To Be Free</strong></p>
<p>Most MLMers lose money because they don&#8217;t know WHAT to advertise (hint: it&#8217;s not your<br />
opportunity).</p>
<p>However, when done correctly, all of your advertising expenses become a complete non-<br />
issue.</p>
<p>Read that again.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>WHEN DONE RIGHT&#8230;</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>COST IS IRRELEVANT.</strong></p>
<p>Yes, even the most expensive kinds like direct mail.</p>

<p>On to number three&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>#3. &#8220;Warm/cold market prospecting is duplicateable.&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>This argument goes right along with the first one.</p>
<p>If we&#8217;ve already established that prospecting people who don&#8217;t care about our opportunity one at a time is NOT an effective form of marketing (and in some cases, one of the worst forms when done incorrectly), why would you want to duplicate it?</p>
<p>Of course the whole point is supposed to be that making a names list and calling those people is supposed to be something that absolutely ANYONE can do without needing any money, skills, or experience whatsoever (not true, by the way)&#8230;</p>
<p>But in reality:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>2nd Rate Methods Lead To<br />
2nd Rate Results</strong></p>
<p>Many MLMers might look at this and ask (as I would have in the past), &#8220;but didn&#8217;t John Paul Getty say that he would rather have 1% of the efforts of a hundred men than 100% of his own?&#8221;</p>
<p>And he did. But what he left out of that famous saying is that in order for it to apply, that 1% has to at least amount to SOMETHING.</p>
<p>The fact is, the old school techniques of trying to sell to unqualified prospects usually yield zero or even negative results for most MLMers and only ends up in frustration and failure.</p>
<p>And this is all assuming that the warm/cold market approach really is duplicateable in the first place.</p>
<p>But this is hardly the case.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s too dependent on how big your warm market is&#8230; what kind of people it consists of&#8230; and how much influence you have with them.</p>
<p>The problem is, most of us are not positioned very well as someone who our family and friends would see as a good person to follow into a business venture.</p>
<p>And in either case &#8211; whether you&#8217;re trying to recruit in your warm or cold market &#8211; when you&#8217;re prospecting people who have expressed little or no interest in your product or opportunity, only the most tenacious and pitbull-like reps can achieve any kind of consistent, ongoing success. Usually those who have had lots of experience in previous<br />
sales positions.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>Does This Mean That One-To-One<br />
Communication Is Completely Out?</strong></p>
<p>Absolutely not.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s simply a matter of shifting and redefining your idea of how and when to use it.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s just as important today as it ever has been &#8211; WHEN used correctly, with the RIGHT people at the RIGHT time.</p>
<p>Developing one-to-one relationships with your top business builders and your best prospects is very important&#8230;</p>
<p>But it&#8217;s definitely not needed for ALL your prospects. This tedious grunt work of sifting and sorting can and should be automated.</p>
<p>Most people find that when they do this, they literally get TEN TIMES the results.</p>
<p>No exaggeration. In fact that&#8217;s quite normal.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s an example of just one such success story:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;ve Already Made Over $6,000 In<br />
Commission Checks And I Have Attracted<br />
Over 500 Prospects Who Came To Me&#8221;</strong></p>

<p>Do you find yourself floundering along in your business, maybe making a few bucks here and there- but not the money you actually NEED to make in order to stop struggling?</p>
<p>I have a few rules that you must follow beginning today-</p>
<p>#1 Make sure you set up your online presence properly the first time around. You need a self hosted <a title="setup a wordpress blog" href="http://budurl.com/wpsetup" target="_blank">WordPress Blog</a> and to learn to create your own customized <a title="create capture page" href="http://budurl.com/CreateCapturePage" target="_blank">capture pages</a>.  If you intend to build your business professionally, you cannot start with inferior tools.  You need to go pro. It will cost you about $25 bucks!</p>
<p>#2 Study the Master Marketers.<br />
I have learned most of the methods I use from observing the marketing funnels of the top marketers.  I study thier copy, their video style, the type of capture pages they are using &#8211; where they take me after I fill out the page&#8230; and on and on.  most of what I learn, I learn from observation, not necessarily from buying courses.</p>
<p>Now, to clarify, I  do own EVERYTHING the top marketers in my niche put out.  I will never pass up an opportunity to learn from <a title="mike dillard" href="http://goto.buildingonabudget.com/" target="_blank">Mike Dillard</a> or <a title="ann sieg" href="http://goto.marketersmanifesto.com/blog" target="_blank">Ann Sieg</a>. That would be stupid!  Those two not only teach me a ton, they also pay me an awful lot of money every month!</p>
<p>#3 <a title="take massive action" href="http://mlm-list-building.com/2009/02/11/personal-growth-is-learning-and-applying-learning-alone-does-not-equal-success-you-must-learn-and-do/" target="_blank">Learn and APPLY</a><br />
You can study all day long, but if you aren&#8217;t actually creating anything, if you aren&#8217;t taking ACTION&#8230; well, you simply cannot earn.  Many people fall into the trap of being a constant student.  Of litening to another training, or reading another course, or doing anything at all to avoid working&#8230;</p>
<p>But I can tell you one thing for certain: the people who you see making the big bucks got there by taking all out massive action to reach their goals.  You must do something poorly before you can get good, and good before you are great.<br />
Bottom line is, you must DO something.</p>
<p>Which brings me to the subject of this post&#8230;<br />
Even if you do a fraction of what the master marketers are doing, you will do well. Or at least better than you are right now.</p>
<p>So, when you see a sales page that says &#8221; I earned 25k this month with XYZ&#8221; think to yourself&#8230; well, I&#8217;d be happy to make $2500, just 1/10th of that.  Or even, an extra $250 to start.</p>
<p>Where are you? Who are you emulating? What have you created today?  Set a goal, and accomplish it, then celebrate <img src='http://mlm-list-building.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

applies to EVERYTHING you do. It’s as predictable<br />
and guaranteed as the law of gravity itself.</p>
<p>But what I’ve found is that many times the ratio is<br />
MUCH more extreme than 80/20.</p>
<p>For example, more like 90/10. Or 95/5. Or even 99/1.</p>
<p>This is why every network marketer dreams of one<br />
day signing up a heavy hitter into their downline or<br />
getting them to promote their stuff.</p>
<p>The truth of the matter is, one REALLY good business<br />
partner – the right partner – can make you more money<br />
than 1,000 distributors.</p>
<p>All big income earners know this to be fact.</p>
