And to be fair, I’ll answer it for you first.
Why do you want to work an online business?
What made you search initially and ultimately get started?
My reasons might seem a bit foolish, girly, a bit lazy even.
Doesn’t matter – because my ‘why’ drives me to do bigger and better things with each new day.

Ok, here goes:
Why does Melanie Milletics work to build a large and growing list of subscribers who may, or may not join her home based business???
My motivation?
Family, Food, Fun. In that order.
I build a list of people who are either currently in a home based business or looking to start one because it pays very well and I have lots of time with my Family to eat excellent food and have a ton of fun!
I wake up when my kids burst into our room in the morning. Never an alarm clock.
I feed their little bellies the best organic, wholesome foods that I can provide.
I DANCE 3 times a week. Wild crazy latin/african dance class called Zumba (not your average Zumba, I assure you).
I see my children off to school and walk in the sun to pick them up.
I make a wholesome sit down dinner – every night.
I sleep when I want… We travel ALOT – my kids have seen more of the world than most.
I work with awesome entrepreneurs from all over the world and make excellent money.
I am so very thankful for this lifestyle!
One day I will have a full estate with sprawling ‘forest gardens’.
My children will do exactly what they are destined to do as they will have true wealth behind their ambitions.
Generating my LIST has been the single most important factor that allows me to live life on my terms.
If it wasn’t for my list, I’d still be a high school science teacher…yuck! (no offence to those of you who LOVE teaching!)
Pretty simple huh? I’ll bet your goals are much bigger. You probably have some great aspirations to give a ton of money to charity, or buy that Porsche. Good for you! Tell me WHY you set out to earn in your Home Based Business.

I want to always be able to afford to spend quality time with them at our Outer Banks beach house because they love it, and I love it. I want them to have futures where they can choose to give back to the world, and to do what truly fulfills them. Why? I want to give my nephew and 2 nieces a legacy to remember me by and help them have the resources to build their dreams and desires…help them be able to fullfill their ‘WHY’ in life. God has been good to me and has cured me of COPD, Sarcoidosis, and Endometreosis. I want to give back and fund programs for research for these three life threatening diseases. Since I have a renewed life I get to travel to destinations but I want to travel to alot more. God has given us a beautiful world and we all should see it. I am not crazy though…of courses I want a huge income, corvette(wanted since 4 yrs.old) and a beautiful estate where I can move my parents in with me to enjoy there golden years!
I want to be able to buy the best therapy for my son with cerebral palsy. I have 8 children and want to be able to pay for their college education and keep them in private schools. I want to take them to Hawaii and show them beautiful cities. I want to wake up and never worry about money again.
I want to show my children that when you work hard, you get results.

I want to sponsor my boys in Romania, John and Dan, in getting a college education, and bring John here to America for college. I want to own a home in Romania and go back and forth as I please.
I wish to build a my business presence so myself
and everyone i come in touch with will be able to share the prosperity of having more freedom and never having to answer to a BOSS
I want to build an online business so that I never have to stress over how my bills are going to be pais again. I worry every month an dnever know just how I”m going to make it. I started my first job when i was 10 years old. Had too, If I wanted new school cloths, that was how i had to get them. I have had many jobs over the years, only to just get by. This was the programming that i was raised to do, get up at 4 am and go to work. I now see a different future than that, to know that it can be achieved and I will want it bad enough.
I want my daughter to have that kind of future, to have more time for her. Just to be able to have more time freedom and share the world with my family. To shed all fears I may have to go for what is important to me in my life. Be Happy and enjoy my life.

Thanks Melanie, many of the replies are very inspiring. The why is simple, after losing everything I must start over. Doing this at my age is not easy, internet marketing is the only way I could find to get back the losses in a timely manner so that I will be able to leave my wife and children something established that will allow them to live comfortably. The How is the difficult part sometimes.

My Why? I originally got into TraVerus because I wanted to try something different and I could maybe work TraVerus part-time while I go back to school full-time. I really didn’t do anything except book a little travel until the Friday after my birthday. It was February 20th and I was at work. I work at Dunkin Donuts. It is located inside a convenience store. It was a little after 11 pm and I was coming out of the freezer. I heard the girl that works in the store part yelling and I went to ask her what she was hollering for. When I came out that is when I saw a guy with a gun come from over there where she was at and jump across the counter and come toward me with the gun. He pointed it to my head and told me to go open the register. Then another guy called him to come on and he told me to go to the middle of the store and they took off running. The guys were caught and are still in jail. The reason that knew that I need to leave is that the only thing that my boss was concerned about was how much work we got done. It is still times that I am scared to go to work. That is the reason that I am really working this like a business instead of a hobby.
My motivation is my family also. I want my husband to retire early since he has worked so hard to take care of us. I want to send my children to college with no problem and I want to be used by God to help and give to others in need.

off to college in the fall. I could never give my family all I would have loved to over the years, I am now at a place where I have complete belief in myself and my my future, I want to pay for my daughter’s education and start living the life we were meant to have, thank you for your inspiration Melanie!

My why is my family. I’m a full time caregiver to my elderly parents who live with me. Dad is 92 and Mom is 83 and has Alzheimer’s. Taking care of them is an honor and privilege. I know I would not be able to do what I do, if I didn’t have my home based business. I want to step up my game plan to increase my income tremendously. The REASON I want to do that, is so that I can provide my parents a caregiver to help me take care of them. I want someone that is loving and caring to come to our home to assist me in their daily needs. We are doing ok right now, but I know what is ahead, especially for Mom, and I want to be ready when the time comes to take care of her right here, rather than put her in an institution. That is my biggest why.

I what to build a large and successful business so I can live the life I was meant to live. Total freedom with time and money and be able to truly give back to other by showing them that they too have got what it takes to succeed against all the odds. To be able to travel with my wife and live 3 months of the year in Canada (Brenda’s Canadian) and to be an example to my daughter Chasely.
I agree Melanie you must focus on building a list.
The formula of sales is simple.
1. Find a list of people that fits your product or service
2. Present your product or service to them
3. Follow up until they buy

I can’t have what most would consider a “normal” job due to health issues. I want to build my list to provide the best future I can for my kids. I know, when done right, the pay in MLM is or can be incredible.
I’d like to donate to more charities, help more people in need and leave the world a better place than when I came into it.
I want financial freedom… freedom to take care of my kids in the best possible way I can.I want to be with them when they need me.I want the security a life I can enjoy a much as I can.
What’s my why you ask? Too many things,first to be financial free, to not to live in a foreclosed home not knowing when you might get kicked out. I would like to not worry about every month looking at a disconnect notice and not knowing how to pay for it. I would love to sleep, without so many voices in my head, and wake from that sleep with some answers that want bit me later. Second to have a house. But my biggest why is that I do have a family call, even though some are like me, in the same boat. Third, is to be successful at my home based biz to answer some of those voices…. Fourth, I am no quitter!!!!

Being mom myself I find being with my kids, working from home without hiring nanny the most rewarding career. Some days we have bad days but in general our life of an online marketers is pretty awesome.
I am glad our paths crossed and we help each other and empower each other to create success that can leave footprints for our children to follow..

I just why the simple and realistic goal of when my family asks for something, I can say absolutely yes. I want to be the person that my wife and son can rely on.
I am not under some illusion that home business or MLM means “not having to work” like many believe. Build a downline and retire as it is often pitched. In fact MLM is probably harder than having a job. By the way there is nothing wrong with having a job and there is nothing wrong with having a boss. Those who complain just don’t have the right job or right boss. (except the negative lazy people of course). Home business just gives us more possibilty and that is my why. My why is to be bigger tomorrow in everyway than I am today.

My main reason for staring a home based internet business is FORECLOSURE. Like alot of people nowadays, I too face foreclosure. I want to wakeup without a headache stressing how am I going to catch up with my bills. I want to wake up without thinking about how much longer will I wake up in my house. I work to live and eat. Something real simple that alot of people take for granted.
The reason I have Choose this business.In all actuality our house we were renting got violently robbed they took everything we had it was devastating.We were worried about the babies safety so we ended up moving in with my sister and her husband who are both not doing well.I had 2-Heart-attacks and I have always been the Main source for income.My wife’s been diagnosed with spinal stenos is well.I am on unemployment I have 4 -kids 21-20-17and our 4 year old angel and the story just gets worse I must tell you. I am at an age where I would like to be retired, however I have come to realize that I would like to really continue to enjoy the lifestyle we came to enjoy and there just won’t be enough money to maintain that.
We would like to be able to enjoy extended vacations closer to our daughters and grandchildren, maybe enjoy a sailing vacation in some far off exotic place and have the flex time to be more involved in our church, Habitat for Humanity and the 130 year old, 3 masted sailing ship in Galveston, Elissa.
As I began really becoming a student of the business, I came to realize that I should be able to accomplish those goals and still have a business that maybe I could get some of my children and grand children involved in as well.
Now I just have to get my arms around it all and understand how to develop all the leads I need to make it work.

My WHY is pretty simple too. It is to be financially secure. To not have to worry about whether I am going to be able to pay all the bills. Not having to worry about being laid-off. Being in control of my own future, rather than some company being in control. And to be able to give back, even more, to an industry that is allowing me to achieve these things by helping others do the same.
Melanie, you are absolutely right. List building is the life of the internet entrepreneur. I regularly talk about the importance list building to my new clients. Thank you for your wonderful post.

Why?Because it’s so tease for me to create some automated money machine…so i can take my family on really fresh vacation,financial freedom etc.
I want to live my life the way I want. I’m approaching retirement and I want to live it in a lifestyle that will work for me. I would also like to be able to do things for my children and my mother.

day of every month, and its not enough to live on. so i have to
work at something tobe able to make it. i have been working at my
reguler job of upholstering, but i lost my leg and its a little
difficult, anyway i thought if i had to work i might as well try

My parents are getting old and I would like to send them on the vacation of a lifetime with no restrictions on money. Hi Melanie–First off I want to relax a little-I work as an ICU-CCU Nurse 60-80 hours per week for over twenty years–I now feel I deserve something. I know it can be done its’s just getting started.
